Cycling route among the historic sites of the Great War, immersed in the evocative landscape around the city of Gorizia.
The route leads to the discovery of the places where the first 6 battles of the Isonzo and the capture of Gorizia were fought. The first Italian and Austro-Hungarian lines are crossed with trenches, commemorative monuments, and gun placements. You pedal at the foot of Mount Sabotino, pass through the Oslavia military shrine, San Martino sul Carso and arrive at the sacred area of Mount San Michele with the national history museum located between the trenches of the Italian army and those of the Austro-Hungarian army. The second day is dedicated to monuments in Slovenia such as Cerje where the Peace monument is located: it is a 25-meter high tower from which there is a view over the Vipava Valley. You continue to Renče / Ranziano, Bukovica / Boccavizza and Stara Gora / Monte Santo from which you can enjoy a magnificent panorama. The route ends entering Nova Gorica.
The route can be done in 2 days and you can also add the Gorizia - Nova Gorica loop route
