FVG8/a - Carnia cycle route - alternative path (C8VA)

The variant route starts from Tolmezzo and allows you to discover the villages along the Degano stream valley up to Comeglians passing through Ovaro. For the more trained, it is possible to switch from the cycle path to its variant crossing the Valcalda saddle at Ravascletto on roads open to traffic (alt. 958 m). The route crosses the intermunicipal park of the Carnic hills between meadows and woods and near the important archaeological site of Invillino.
Along the route, you can make various cultural and gastronomic detours. The ride continues towards Ovaro until you meet Raveo, an authentic Italian village. In Ovaro you can visit the Wood Museum and the Venetian Sawmill, a unique testimony of the use of forest resources and the timber supply chain documented in Carnia since the 1700s, during the dominance of the Serenissima Republic of Venice. In the Clavais hamlet, there is the permanent exhibition "War Memories".
