The Tagliamento River is called the king of European rivers due to the naturalness and morphology of its watercourse.
The Tagliamento River has become an increasingly popular destination for many lovers of wilderness and water sports. On its banks and in the adjacent territories, a bicycle touring itinerary has been set up that allows you to visit places, villages, habitats and everything related to the river. Starting from Tolmezzo, the capital of Carnia, you pedal past the walls of the village of Venzone and then reach Spilimbergo, the city of mosaics, the village of San Vito al Tagliamento and end at the mouth of the Tagliamento in the seaside resort of Lignano Sabbiadoro. Along the route we also pass through the village of Valvasone with its castle and Casarsa della Delizia, the birthplace of Pier Paolo Pasolini. The right bank features some panoramic viewpoints to admire the river: castello di Sopra in Spilimbergo and the riverbank in Latisana. In the final part of the itinerary you ride on the riverbank and can see the landscape from above.

There are still a few kilometres on a busy road in the municipality of Casarsa della Delizia.
The route is hilly until Pinzano al Tagliamento, after which it becomes flat until the mouth of the Tagliamento River (Lignano Sabbiadoro) with a few ups and downs with very gentle slopes. The route runs mostly on asphalt roads. Dirt roads are only present in the flat section. Suitable for all bikes with gearboxes, excluding racing bikes.

Tolmezzo: A23 Palmanova - Tarvisio exit Carnia-Tolmezzo. Follow the signs for Tolmezzo. Once in town, follow the signs for the bus station. and park in the large car parks in the immediate vicinity.
Lignano Sabbiadoro: A4 Turin - Trieste exit Latisana. Follow the signs for Lignano Sabbiadoro.
