Multi-day route
The cycle route runs along the Tagliamento River, which is called the king of European Alpine rivers because of the naturalness and morphology of its waterway.
The Tagliamento River has become an increasingly popular destination for many lovers of wilderness and water sports. On its banks and adjacent territories, a bicycle touring route has been set up to visit places, villages, habitats and everything related to the river. Starting from Tolmezzo, the capital of Carnia, you pedal alongside the walls of the village of Venzone and then reach Spilimbergo, city of mosaics, the village of San Vito al Tagliamento and end at the mouth of the Tagliamento in the seaside resort of Lignano Sabbiadoro. Along the way we also pass through the village of Valvasone with its castle and Casarsa della Delizia, birthplace of Pier Paolo Pasolini. The right bank has some viewpoints to admire the river: castello di Sopra in Spilimbergo and the riverbank in Latisana. In the final part of the itinerary you pedal on the riverbank and can see the paessaggio from above.

The route is hilly until Pinzano al Tagliamento, then the route becomes flat until the mouth of the Tagliamento River (Lignano Sabbiadoro) with a few ups and downs with very gentle gradients. The route runs mostly on paved roads. Dirt roads are present only in the flat section. Suitable for all bikes with gears, excluding racing bikes.

Tolmezzo: A23 Palmanova - Tarvisio exit Carnia-Tolmezzo. Follow the signs for Tolmezzo. Once in town, follow signs for the bus station. and park in the large parking lots in the immediate vicinity.
Lignano Sabbiadoro: A4 Turin-Trieste exit Latisana. Follow the signs for Lignano Sabbiadoro.
