The route starts from Grado, the island of the sun, in the direction of Monfalcone and passes through the nature reserves of Val Cavanata and the Mouths of the River Isonzo. At Sistiana the route ends along the Gulf of Trieste and enters the Karst villages of San Pelagio and Sales. From here we reach Sgonico, the Grotta Gigante village with the largest single-room tourist cave in the world. We pedal between karstic heath and vineyard plots until we skirt the Padriciano science park and, after Basovizza, the foiba of the same name, which has been declared a national monument. The route enters the fascinating nature reserve of Val Rosandra, characterised by large screes and suggestive panoramic openings on the Gulf of Trieste. It crosses the charming Bosco Stena and Sant'Antonio in Bosco, a small village located among the hills. We reach Trieste by cycling along the Val Rosandra's Cottur cycle/pedestrian path, which partly follows the route of the old Trieste-Kozina railway.
