The route begins in Venzone, one of Italy’s Most Beautiful Villages, and then follows the Tagliamento River through the countryside until it reaches the villages that together make up Verzegnis: from the center of Chiaicis, you can descend to Lake Verzegnis, nestled among the mountains, for a pleasant break. In the village of Villa, not far from the route, you’ll find the
“Marzona” Art Meadow , featuring contemporary artworks on permanent display. You then reach the intermunicipal park of the Carnic Hills, where you walk alongside the small lake of Villa Santina before beginning to follow the course of the Chiarzo and Degano streams. You’ll pass through the village of Raveo and continue on to the town of Muina and the village of Agrons. Beyond this village, the
church of San Maria di Gorto stands high above. You’ll reach the villages of Cella and Aplis in Ovaro, where you’ll find the
Museum of Wood and the Venetian Sawmill. Ovaro is also the starting point for
the climb up Mount Zoncolan for cyclists who love a challenge. From Ovaro, you can return along the same route or continue along
the Carnic
cycling loop toward Ravascletto, Sutrio, Arta Terme, and Tolmezzo.
The section from Verzegnis to Ovaro has an elevation gain of about 800 meters over 40 km. It is recommended for fit riders on e-bikes or mountain bikes
