The excursion begins with a boat ride along the stretch of sea between Villaggio del Pescatore and Aurisina Mare, passing through one of the most fascinating corners of the Gulf of Trieste. After a few panoramic stops to admire the impressive Duino Cliffs and Castle, the journey continues along the Timavo River, sailing upstream to its remarkable resurgence points.
Upon docking, participants disembark for a short walk to the historic Church of San Giovanni in Tuba, a site steeped in mystery and spirituality. Here, in an evocative atmosphere, reenactors in Roman costumes will share stories and legends about the Timavo, a river sacred to the Romans and even mentioned by Virgil in the Aeneid.
Along the way, you will witness the rich biodiversity of the river, home to swans, ducks, and frogs, as well as the characteristic vegetation of wetland areas. A captivating experience that blends nature, culture, and history into a single journey.
