Simple trail along the banks of the Vuarbis Swamp, a unique example of a peat bog nestled in the Lake Valley.
An itinerary that develops along the banks of the Vuarbis Swamp, a site of great naturalistic interest from a botanical and faunal point of view; it can be traced back to the peat bogs of the Alps and northern Europe, although we are located in Cavazzo Carnico in the Val del Lago. The elongated marshy area looks like a marshy depression that retains water and forms a layer of perennially wet plant elements.
Leaving the former local Vuarbis Swamp behind you (at the entrance to the FVG6 Ciclovia Tagliamento), cross SR512 and continue to the side of the roadway to take the path on the left. Continue slightly downhill and enter the woods. Continuing along the wide path you reach a clearing where you catch a glimpse of the marsh area. During autumn and winter the swamp freezes becoming very picturesque.
It is possible to return along the same path and continue to the right where you catch a glimpse of the small wooden bridge, which leads to the Observation Point (sign) where the view opens up to the entire marsh.
Some scholars believe that there stood the Village of Worvas, a small hamlet that has disappeared due to the gradual swamping of the area, but was already mentioned in some writings from the 1200s.
