The route, which starts in Val Cimoliana, reaches the alpine meadows of Mount Lodina and the airy ridge of the Cime Centenere, then descends into the Val Zemola.
From the parking at Ponte Compol, reachable from Cimolais by following the road through Val Cimoliana, you take the path that climbs through the Lodina forest until you reach the pasture and the homonymous Casera (shelter). From there you continue ascending the pasture and, after passing the ruins of another hut (Bergon), you reach Forcella Lodina. From here, the path enters the wide karstic valley of the Busa dei Vediei, characterized by the presence of humps, sinkholes, and widespread swallow holes. After crossing this wide plateau, the trail starts ascending to reach the ridge of the Cime Centenere, follows part of it (alpinistic difficulty) and then slightly descends to reach Forcella del Duranno, located at the foot of the homonymous peak, notable for its imposing pyramidal shape. The route then continues descending the opposite slope, initially over articulated rocks (alpinistic difficulty) down to their base, from where it continues on a path over scree first and then through a dwarf pine thicket, until reaching the Rifugio Maniago. From the hut, you follow the trail crossing the characteristic forests of Val Zemola to reach the valley bottom and the Rifugio Casera Mela (parking).
