    The Outside Trail is a simple but rewarding loop tour through the forests of the Upper Torre Valley. It is a route suitable for everyone, especially families with children.

    The Out Trail allows even the least trained people to immerse themselves in these borderlands just a stone's throw from Slovenia.

    The start is set at the Pian dei Ciclamini hiking hut, from where one plunges into the beech and fir forests of the Upper Torre Valley. The comfortable, wide trail leads toward Passo Tanamea, an important strategic and fortified site during the Cold War when a strip of the Iron Curtain passed through these areas.

    The theme of the border is dealt with by means of a series of information panels distributed along the trail, which are flanked by those dedicated to the theme of biodiversity. In fact, numerous animal and plant species live in these territories, and if we are lucky, they can be encountered along the hike: magnificent orchids, shy roe deer and large griffon vultures that ply the skies.

    The Outside Trail turns out to be an excellent choice for those who want to take a walk outdoors with their families.

    Author’s recommendation

    To complete the visit, it is recommended to enjoy some typical dishes at local restaurants in the valley.

    Two are the best times to appreciate this trail:

    • In early summer, to enjoy the colorful blooms of the meadows;
    • In autumn, to enjoy the foliage of the beech trees.
