Family hike along the north slopes of Forni di Sopra, made easier by the possibility of using the Varmost lifts. The descent, however, is on foot.
With our backs turned to the view of the Friulian Dolomites, we spot the signs for trail 211/CaseraTartoi, which we take heading east. After about an hour we are at Rifugio Alpino Casera Tartoi (1711 m). We continue by taking the service road of the casera, which descends in front of it. After 2 km on the left, a well-marked path (1545 m, sign "Malga Tragonia") comes off uphill. We thus reach the service road of Malga Tragonia, which we take softly uphill until we reach the malga (1760 m). To close the loop tour, we go down a few meters along the access road we have just taken and take the detour on the left (sign), which makes us cross a meadow and a small bridge and leads us onto another path (path 209). At the first fork we meet we take a right, downhill; we reach Casera del Aip (1598 m) and from here we descend to the Piazza del Comune of Forni di Sopra, from where in about 10 minutes we return to the parking lot of the Varmost chairlift to retrieve the car.
The hike can be integrated with the Varmost-Casera Lavazeit route, which has a single steep (but not difficult or exposed) point.
