The Curiedi basin, in the municipality of Tolmezzo, is a place that represents a unicum in terms of Carnia's natural and agricultural traditions. This ring-route allows you to appreciate the natural aspects of these ridges where the luxuriant beech woods caress the wetlands known as peat bogs, formed after the melting of the Wurmian ice (last glaciation). The route climbs first to the summit of M. Dobis at 1029m and then to that of Cuel Maior at 1011m, taking place along well-trodden and perfectly signposted paths (white-green markings) during the Tolmezzo Città Alpina 2017 event.

The places crossed and the still-inhabited farm buildings that one comes across are permeated with the magic of customs that are gradually being lost. Agricultural, pastoral and silvicultural traditions, the ancient heritage of Carnia.

A route that, given its brevity, lends itself to enjoying the sunset from two exceptional vantage points.
