Easy hike ascending the wooded ridges of Monte Stella with various panoramic points over the Torre Valley and the Julian Prealps and charming villages.
The hike starts from the hamlet of Zomeais in Tarcento immediately following the ascent signs of the Crosis waterfalls loop. A steep climb on a mule track leads to cross the paved road which, if followed for a stretch, leads to the small village of Malemaseria. From the small settlement, the trail climbs through woods and clearings to the edge of a ravine of a modest stream, again gaining the paved road near the village of Michs. The route then turns decidedly southeast gaining the shoulder of Monte Stella, summit reached after a bench intersection with a beautiful view (worth the stop!) and the metal cross.
Beginning the descent you soon reach a wide meadow marking the summit of Monte Oussa, with memories of events that happened during the Great War. Continue along a forest track passing the hamlet of Boreanis and then, through the Way of the Cross of the Stella church, return to Malamaseria and then downhill
Visit the Crosis waterfall a short distance from the start of the route by driving near the hydroelectric plant

A variant of the "Crosis waterfalls trail" is unusable although the wooden signs are still in place. It is advisable to do only the first part of this trail up to the wooden railing that closes the path before a landslide ravine. Do not be tempted to continue because, although the trail is clear, you would proceed on unstable slopes, overgrown with vegetation, with numerous fallen trees on the ground.
From the parking lot, head towards the narrow part of the Torre valley to see the waterfall area from an unusual perspective (trail in the meadow beyond the houses, indicated by a sign).
Returning on the same route, turn right to take the mule track that climbs into the woods with a last steeper part before emerging onto the paved road. Continue along the paved road to the village of Malemaseria where in the center of the houses, on the right, a street starts that shortly becomes a trail. Climbing you pass a water intake and reach the paved road again (white-red trail signs). The mule track crosses the asphalt once and reconnects higher up near the village of Michs. After about a hundred meters along the road, turn right to take the wide trail to Monte Stella, very well marked also by signs.
Following the trail and having reached the summit, continue descending towards Monte Oussa, either along the trail or on the forest track. After the clearing, at the junction with another forest road, turn left down towards the village of Boreanis. In the village center the Way of the Cross route is indicated which leads to the Stella church. From the church continue right, along the paved road, returning to Malemaseria and then, following the outward path, to the parking lot in Zomeais.
From the roundabout at the entrance of Tarcento (reachable via the S.R.356 of FVG) follow the signs for the upper Torre Valley by turning left along Viale Marinelli. The signs lead to cross the bridge over the Torre stream and head towards Lusevera at the next junction (take left).
You reach the village of Ciseriis, just before the church, on the left a road goes down to the stream crossing it again by a bridge and leading to Zomeais. The parking can be reached after a few meters by turning right into the village center.
Dedicated parking in the center of Zomeais.
