The excursion starts from the hamlet of Zomeais di Tarcento, immediately following the uphill trail markers of the Crosis waterfall ring. A steep ascent on a mule track leads to the asphalt road that, followed for a stretch, leads to the small hamlet of Malemaseria. From the small hamlet, the trail climbs through woods and clearings to the edge of the impluvium of a modest stream, gaining the tarmac road again near the hamlet of Michs. The path turns decisively S-E, gaining the shoulder of the Stella mountain, a summit that is reached after crossing a bench with a beautiful view (worth a stop!) and a metal cross.

Beginning the descent, we soon reach a wide meadow marking the summit of Mount Oussa, with memories of events during the Great War. Continue along a forest track past the hamlet of Boreanis and then, via the via Crucis of the church of Stella, return to Malamaseria and then to the valley.

    Safety information

A variant of the ‘Crosis waterfall path’ is unusable, although the wooden signs are still in place. It is a good idea to only take the first section of this path as far as the wooden railing that closes the path before a landslide impluvium. Do not be tempted to continue because, although the track is clear, you would be proceeding on landslide slopes, overgrown by vegetation, with numerous crashes on the ground.

    Directions

From the traffic circle at the entrance to Tarcento (reachable via FVG S.R.356), follow the signs to the upper Val Torre by turning left along Viale Marinelli. The signs lead you to cross the bridge over the Torre stream and head toward Lusevera at the next crossroads (take a left).

Reaching the village of Ciseriis, just before the church, on the left a road descends to the creek oltrrossing it again with a bridge and leading to Zomeais. The parking lot is reached after a few meters by turning right into the center of the village.
