Very easy hike whose starting point can be reached by the Varmost lifts
Starting point is Casera Varmost (1758 m), which corresponds to the arrival of the ski lifts of the same name. We turn our backs to the lift and take the dirt road that descends to the left. After a few dozen meters we spot the sign for the beginning of the Giovanni Caposassi/Sentiero 207 trail to Casera Lavazeit. The trail is a little gem: 2.5 km almost level, with some really scenic openings on our left-including the possibility, when the sky is clear, to see the Three Peaks of Lavaredo. We arrive in a scant 40 minutes at Casera Lavazeit (1813 m, also Val di Valaseit), run by volunteers from the village of Forni di Sopra. The casera is half always open: on the ground floor there are table and benches and a cheap kitchen; upstairs you can sleep by reservation. You return by the same trail as on the way up.
With children, this hike is perfect. However, it is possible to continue to Forcella Tartoi (more challenging but not difficult) and descend to Malga Tartoi, on the Forni di Sopra malghe ring trail.
