Beloved hike in one of the most beautiful valleys of the Friulian Dolomites to the beautiful Flaiban Pacherini Refuge and the Suola Pass above, where it is common to spot ibex.
The hike starts from the Laghetti Park in Forni di Sopra (875 m), at Cella. We locate the paved road (trail 362) that climbs southward and plunges into the Suola Valley. Once the paved section is over, we follow the trail that climbs alongside the valley scree and reaches the Flaiban Pacherini Refuge (1587 m; to actually climb we have two options: the trail, which we follow thanks to cairns and markers, or a recently laid-out dirt road, which lengthens the route with a series of hairpin bends but is more convenient for the descent-the trail shows both). From the refuge, to go up to the Suola Pass, we have two options: follow the trail to the Mus Pass and deviate at the right time (signs), or take the "shortcut" that goes straight up to the pass (steeper). Either way, the two routes join at an altitude of 1850 m, the trail becomes easy to follow, and we arrive at Suola Pass (1994 m). The sharp peaks bordering the Suola Valley to the west are outstanding.
If the mileage scares you, you can reduce it by starting from Andrazza.
