Casera Sauc and Val delle Stua

Short route starts from the Piancavallo Infopoint. From the traffic circle at the entrance to Piancavallo take Via del Cansiglio slightly uphill. Take Via dei Rododendri to the right for a short distance and then turn left onto Via dei Ciclamini, through the beautiful hamlets of the locality.

At the end of the road, CAI 994 starts on the right and 990 on the left. Continue on Trail 994 also known as thePath of Remembrance, which is dedicated to the partisan commander Maso who died here in combat on April 12, 1945, a few days before the end of the war. The trail briefly follows a forest road and then enters the forest. Continuing downhill, you reach the border between the municipalities of Aviano and Budoia. Cross the Piancavallo-Cansiglio ridge and continue until you reach Casera Sauc, almost completely hidden by the growth of vegetation.

Follow the marker indicating the junction between CAI 994 and 990. Descending into the middle of the beautiful beech forest, you will soon reach the CAI 990 trail. Turn left on this trail, climbing slightly up the Val de la Stua. Cross the Cavallo-Cansiglio ridge again and a hundred meters to the left take the trail back to the starting point from Via dei Ciclamini.
