The Alto Cellina Geological route forms a loop starting from Pian de Cea and allows you to reach and observe some sites of interest within the field of earth sciences.
Pian de Crode is a vast area located between 900 and 950 m a.s.l. near the base of the northern slopes of Mounts Colon and Colciavath. Upwards it is bounded by rock walls and downwards by the course of the Cellina stream.
The Earth Pyramids are located on the lower part of the left Cellina slope in the valley stretch called Margons. They are particular landforms related to erosion of moraine deposits (of glacial origin) by running water.
The Landre Scur is the most significant cavity of the underground karst of the Frate and Ressetum massifs. It is characterized by the imposing entrance: 20 meters wide and equally high.
The Dinosaur footprints are located on a boulder lying in the bed of a small stream near Casera Casavento.

SUPPORT POINTS: Casera Casavento
You need to reach the hamlet of Lesis and continue along the “Strada degli Alpini” (toll road in summer). The parking at Pian de Cea is located near the ford of Val di Giere. From Pian de Cea a forest track allows you to reach and cross part of Pian de Crode (large landslide body). Then proceed on a descending path that leads to the observation platform on the Earth Pyramids near the Cellina springs (Regional Geosite). Ascend on the same path to continue, still uphill, up to the entrance of Landre Scur (large karst cavity connected to the Geosite “Karstism of Mount Ressetum”). Return, for a stretch, on the path leading to the cave and continue, descending, towards Casavento. Continuing beyond the casera for a few hundred meters, it is possible to observe, in the bed of a small stream, the boulder that preserves the Dinosaur footprints near Casera Casavento (National Geosite). From Casera Casavento return to Pian de Cea using the road.
The starting point is Pian de Cea, located 7 km from Claut. You need to reach the hamlet of Lesis and continue along the “Strada degli Alpini” (toll road in summer).
