1° day
Arrival in Carnia - Friuli Venezia Giulia
Individual arrival in TOLMEZZO, the capital of Carnia and Alpine Town of the Year 2017. Free time for visits; we suggest the Museum of Arts and Popular Traditions or an excursion to ILLEGIO, where you can take a walk to the Church of San Floriano or visit the internationally renowned exhibition “THE COURAGE,” which tells of challenging and heroic virtues through 40 masterpieces from prestigious museums and private collections: Perugino, Caravaggio, Bernini, Finson, Kandinsky, Pomodoro, open until November 3rd (reservation required). Accommodation in a 3-star hotel in Tolmezzo (or nearby).

2° day
Tagliamento valley, towards the springs
Departure for Forni di Sopra, framed by the Eastern Friulian Dolomites, where the Tagliamento River originates. Visit the local brewery with a tasting, followed by a visit to the small and creative embroidery workshop. Enjoy free time for walks along one of the many valley-bottom trails. On the return journey, we suggest a stop in Ampezzo at the Petris brothers’ farm, where cheese-making traditions have been passed down for generations, including mountain cheese (Slow Food Presidia). Return to Tolmezzo and dinner at a typical restaurant.

3° day
From Venzone to Ragogna, following the Tagliamento river
Departure for Venzone, named the most beautiful village in Italy in 2017. Individual visit of the historic center, expertly restored after the 1976 earthquake. In the afternoon, arrive in Ragogna; we suggest a walk to the Castle and the fortifications, followed by a visit to the Museum dedicated to the Great War. Accommodation at a farmhouse in RAGOGNA (or alternatively a 3-star hotel).

4° day
From San Daniele del Friuli to the mouth of Tagliamento river
In the morning, we suggest visiting the historic center of San Daniele del Friuli, including the prestigious Guarneriana Library (entry by appointment, subject to availability), and the Church of Sant’Antonio, which features a splendid 16th-century fresco cycle. Next, visit a local artisanal prosciutto producer and enjoy a tasting menu for lunch. Depart through a gravel plain that has created an ideal habitat for vine cultivation. Visit a winery in the Doc Friuli Grave area for a tasting near Valvasone. Arrive at the mouth of the Tagliamento River and check into a farmhouse in the LATISANA/GORGO area. Dinner is at your leisure.

Marano Lagoon - End of the tour
A day at your leisure for optional excursions to explore the mouth of the Tagliamento River and the beaches in Lignano or the Marano Lagoon (a list will be provided at the time of booking). End of the tour.
