Open villas in Friuli Venezia Giulia

Ville Aperte (Open villas) is an event that has been held since 2005 on 1 May in the municipalities of Buttrio, Manzano, Pavia di Udine, Pradamano, Premariacco and San Giovanni al Natisone. In our region there are 300 fortified structures and as many villas and historic houses, many private property, and therefore little known. Thanks to this initiative, the villas and historic residences open their doors to visitors for a day, giving everyone the opportunity to visit beautiful places that are otherwise closed to the public. The event has always been a great success, and that is why the visit to the historic houses has over time been flanked by concerts, workshops for children, markets, carriage rides and tastings. The visit to the houses is always accompanied by a tour guide, who will tell you the history, the secrets and the events concerning every historical residence and the families who have lived there. Eleven historic houses, located among the various municipalities, can be visited for free during the day. The beauty of this event is also that, thanks to the proximity of the historic houses, the itinerary can be planned as a slow tour that can be done by bike, given good weather. We visited Villa di Toppo Florio, Villa Romano and Villa Giacomelli. Comune di Buttrio
