Immerge yourselves in the autumn atmosphere at the castles of Strassoldo

The centuries-old castles of Strassoldo are situated in the village of the same name on the plains of Friuli, in the municipality of Cervignano.

Surrounded by a medieval village and crossed by rivers, they are one of the most charming locations in our region.

The castles are private and open to visitors only twice a year, during the events called “In primavera: fiori, acque e castelli” (In spring: flower, water and castles) and “In autunno: frutti, acque e castelli” (In autumn: fruits, water and castles). During these events, the castles are decorated for the occasion and host a market of handicrafts, plants and decorative objects for gardens. “In autunno: frutti, acque e castelli” takes place every year on the penultimate weekend in October.

The decorations are definitely one of the main attractions of the event: warm colours, autumn fruits, flowers and figures made of wrought iron fill the elegant areas of the castles. It is impossible not to enter the autumn atmosphere! Every corner of the castle is at its best thanks to decorations skilfully arranged by patient and enthusiastic hands.

Inside the buildings, traditional local craftsman and others exhibit their works of art, which are often hard to find, as many of them do not have a permanent shop for exhibiting them, or they come from far away. So, this becomes an opportunity to admire everything and buy objects that are usually difficult to find: straw hats, jewellery, pottery, clothes, and sweet and savoury delicacies.

The "brolo" (vegetable garden and fruit orchard), instead, hosts the nursery area, where you can buy plants and rare handcrafted objects to embellish your garden.

The castles are open to the public on Saturday and Sunday from 9am - 7pm. We recommend buying your admission ticket (€12 per a person) so you can access all the areas and visit the handicrafts market, otherwise you might miss out on many wonderful corners!
