Aquileia, a treasure chest

The park is divided into three areas and in six hours we saw almost everything, and could also see both the airport and the shipyard in the distance. From the major trench, we moved to Quota 85, a hill on which stands the monument to Enrico Toti and the Gold Medals.
From there we went to the Sant'Elia trench which leads back to the bunker and to other changes made during the Cold War. Then we visited an Austro-Hungarian artificial cave, the fortifications of Quota 121, passing in front of many inscriptions engraved by the soldiers, the Joffre trench with the Vergine cave and the Siracusa trench. On this long circuit, you do not even seem to be in Monfalcone, but the sounds of the train station on the Cai 83 trail remind us that the city is not so far away.
