Aquileia, a treasure chest

The small town of San Giorgio di Nogaro is well known for being the headquarters of the Castrense University during the Great War: this was a medical field school founded to meet the demands of doctors on the war front during the First World War, but almost nothing remains from that period. So what can a culture vulture visit while in town? Walking through the fine streets, we reach this church located in front of Villa Dora.
We are attracted by a sculpture of St. George just above the entrance, but the two lateral works are also very interesting. And within we are welcomed by remarkable works of art, some from Venice, including a Padovanino to the left of the altar. The beautiful St. George and the altar are of the eighteenth century, while the rest dates from between the seventeenth and the mid-nineteenth century.
