Discovering Santa Margherita del Gruagno

The gentle hills that “frame” the Attimis village in the Torre valley are, at this time of the year, a poem of colours: mosses and foliage take on all the shades of brightest green to darkest brown, passing through every tone of yellow and orange.
The Attimis vale lies halfway between Cividale and Tarcento along the banks of the Malina torrent; in the autumn season it is a painting of inestimable beauty and is caressed by the sweetness of the vineyards and the picturesque olive groves laid out on terraces that area perfectly integrated into the landscape, while the trees, plants and the earth have an intense, inebriating and special scent as if nature wanted to give a grand finale before plunging into winter repose.
The undergrowth, source of tasty delicacies, offers masses of chestnuts and mushrooms, local delights that tickle the fancy even before the palate, while in the cellars wine is being made, in the biochemical process of transforming grapes into wine and its ageing.
The traces of a rich historical past are everywhere, bordered by a dense network of well-marked trails and hiking routes that even in this season allow you to explore the territory in a sustainable way: on foot, by bicycle or on horseback.
Near the town hall there is a panel with all the itineraries and local B&Bs: a useful and easy guide for those who like to spend a slow holiday in the open air to enjoy the natural beauties, to enjoy traditional dishes of the country, prepared by excellent chefs and accompanied by fabulous wines.
