Cantine Aperte (Open Cellars), when wine is tradition

Cantine Aperte is the most eagerly awaited wine tourism event of the year, attracting thousands of lovers of Bacchus’s nectar from around the province and beyond, interested in knowing more about wine and wishing to spend a weekend of wellness and quality products.

The passion is that of the producers of Friulian wine, who with their intense work have arrived at an offering of high quality, especially in the white wine sector, while at the same time enabling the preservation and promotion of an increasingly popular and highly appreciated terroir by the tourists who enjoy good living.

In Friuli, there are excellent wines made from local grapes such as the famous Picolit, the most noble fortified wine of Friuli, considered a meditation wine. Or the Ramandolo and, for wines made from red grapes, the Pignolo. Others include Schioppettino, Tazzelenghe, and Refosco dal peduncolo rosso.

Of the white wines, the most famous are Friulano (formerly known as Tocai), Prosecco (named after the village above Trieste), Malvasia, Ribolla gialla and Verduzzo, just to mention the most representative of the region.

In addition to the opportunity of tasting the best wines and buying them directly from the winery, enthusiasts and curious visitors can enjoy a different experience, entering the cellars to discover the secrets of winemaking and its ageing.

In short, this is an experience to live to the full, in joy and in company, and one that provides the tourist with a unique experience to reminisce and talk about.

Where to stay

Kristian Donno

I’m Kristian, I was born in Milan 34 years ago but my origins are in Slovenia. I came to Friuli Venezia Giulia for my job about four years ago and immediately fell in love with the region. I’m a great nature lover, I seek out places that are off the beaten track but perhaps more authentic. I also like good wine and the places where it’s made. By the way, I’m an ONAV 1st-level sommelier and official taster.
