The Three Pyramids of Mt. Sabotin

Before the parking lot, you can see two large stone pyramids on the road (one on the left and the other one on the right a little further on), built in the 1930's during the Fascism. They mark the departure point from where Italian troops led by Generals Gagliani and Del Bono took over Mt. Sabotin during the Sixth Battle of the Isonzo and paved the road for the taking of Gorizia.

At the cabin/museum, several memorial stones are dedicated to the commands, divisions and soldiers who were assigned a gold medal for military valour. In particular, one dedicated to General Ferruccio Trombi and Lieutenant Mario Giuriati guards the entrance of the cabin. Not far away, among the vegetation, a third pyramid can be seen near a cave hard to access.
