There are exactly
107 windows in Micoli Toscano Palace in Mione, a village in the Municipality of Ovaro in Carnia.
Attracted by the great wealth of woodland in Carnia and in order to escape the plague epidemic, many families of merchants from Tuscany and central Italy moved to these areas in the second half of the 14th century.
The Toscano family was among them, becoming very important for the wood trade and subsequently becoming related to the Crosilla and Micoli families. In 1836, the brothers Giovanni Angiolo and Giovanni Francesco Micoli Toscano commissioned the construction of their new home, where, almost a century later in August 1926, Crown Prince Umberto di Savoia, who was visiting the frontier territories, stayed for a night.
The house of 100 windows was built by the family to emphasise their social standing and to have a perfect view over the valley of Ovaro and, of course, to be admired from below.
