The group exhibition ‘OUTSIDERS - THE URBAN-ART PARADOX’ is opening on Thursday, 27 November, at 6 p.m. in the project room of the Casa Cavazzini Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Udine. The exhibition, organised by the Macross Association and funded by the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region, will be open to the public until 1 March 2026.
The exhibition features leading names in contemporary art in the region, united by their activity in public spaces as writers, street artists or muralists. They include Mattia Campo Dall'Orto, Davide Comelli, Mara Fella, Marta Lorenzon, Francesco Patat, Kristian Sturi and Giacomo Zorba. They are joined by a special guest, the American Axel Void, an artist in residence who creates his works directly in the museum spaces. The project, which sees the return to Casa Cavazzini of some names already featured in the 2015 exhibition “Visioni Urbane” (Urban Visions), does not directly exhibit street art or graffiti, but highlights the paradox experienced by these figures: the need to evolve their language while maintaining the freedom of expression and genuine approach of their origins. The “mask of street art” falls definitively with collateral interventions, such as the new works in Via Savorgnana that preceded the inauguration.
The initiative is accompanied by collateral urban art interventions in Via Savorgnana, as well as an educational programme that includes guided tours and meetings with students. In December, a workshop with people with disabilities is planned in collaboration with Comunità Piergiorgio ONLUS.
After the event in Udine, the project will continue with another collective exhibition in Cormons, a happening in Gradisca d'Isonzo and further creative workshops.
Admission to the collective exhibition is included in the ticket price for the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art - Casa Cavazzini.
