Monument to the fallen nine in Castions di Strada

The monument dedicated to the fallen nine in Castions di Strada has no artistic relevance but bears great historical and symbolic value. It is, in fact, the first official monument erected to commemorate the Great War in Italy, inaugurated by the Duke of Aosta Emanuele Filiberto in April 1919. It was built to honour the last Italian soldiers who fell on 04th November 1918, a few hours before the armistice was signed. You can clearly spot it near the hamlet of Bivio Paradiso, at the intersection between regional road SR353 and provincial road SP87 heading to Torsa.
