Leaving behind the machine-gun pit, the visit continues along a trail leading to the banks of the Tagliamento. A short walk uphill leads to a hilltop of around 100m offering nice views of the surrounding landscape and then to some important remnants of the Austro-Hungarian entrenched camp, namely an articulated network of trenches connecting bunkers and fortified caves stretching for about a kilometre.
Most of these installations would house machine-guns and small weaponry pointed towards the Rio del Fossâl Valley and the strategic Pinzano Bridge. An underground bunker is still visible with slits facing the bridge.
