DAY 1
Arrival in Friuli Venezia Giulia - PORDENONE, Italian Capital of Culture 2027
Arrive in PORDENONE by your own car and settle into your hotel.
In the afternoon, enjoy an audio-guided tour of this elegant city, enchanting with its evocative historic center and its buildings with splendidly frescoed facades, earning Pordenone the nickname " urbs picta ," or "painted city." These authentic open-air works of art line Corso Vittorio Emanuele II, with a Venetian influence evident in the bell tower of the Cathedral of San Marco, one of the most beautiful terracotta bell towers in northern Italy. Inside the Cathedral, you can admire an altarpiece and frescoes by the greatest painter of the Friulian Renaissance, Giovanni Antonio De Sacchis, known universally as "Il Pordenone," whose masterpieces are also on display in the Civic Art Museum of Palazzo Ricchieri .

2nd DAY
CASARSA DELLA DELIZIA – COLLOREDO DI MONTE ALBANO - UDINE
In the morning, depart for CASARSA DELLA DELIZIA to visit Casa Colussi (now the Pier Paolo Pasolini Study Center), the maternal home where the young Pier Paolo spent the war years and wrote his first poems in Friulian, collected in Poesie a Casarsa (Poems in Casarsa , 1942). Letters, photographs, manuscripts, and personal items create a touching atmosphere. A few minutes' walk takes you to the cemetery , where Pasolini rests next to his mother Susanna, among a laurel and jasmine bush, and not far from his brother Guido.
We continue to COLLOREDO DI MONTE ALBANO, where the 14th-century castle of the same name stands, known as “the castle of writers and storytellers” : here, in fact, the 17th-century poet Ermes da Colloredo, the great 19th-century writer Ippolito Nievo, and the author and traveler Stanislao Nievo lived and expressed their creativity.
Before the 1976 earthquake, the castle consisted of a central core, three towers, and two wings. A triple ring of walls with an elliptical perimeter is still visible. Today, pending reconstruction of the entire complex, the clock tower and the west wing, home to the Friuli Hill Community, are visible.
Arrival in Udine, hotel check-in. In the evening, dinner at a restaurant featuring traditional Friulian dishes.

4th DAY
TRIESTE – the city of literature
Trieste deserves a full, slow day.
This morning, enjoy an audio-guided tour of the most beautiful places in this fascinating city of seaside, art, and culture. The tour includes 22 stops, from Piazza Unità d'Italia to the Verdi Theater and up to Colle di San Giusto. You'll experience the unique atmosphere that has inspired some of the greatest literary figures of all time, including James Joyce, Umberto Saba, and Italo Svevo, as well as those of today, including Claudio Magris, Fulvio Tomizza, Veit Heinichen, and Mauro Covacich.
Stop for a delicious brunch at Caffè degli Specchi located in Piazza Unità d'Italia.
In the afternoon, we recommend a visit to LETS, the Museum of Literature, a place to read and explore through an exhibition divided into six sections. These include the Svevian Museum, which traces the life and works of this innovative writer, whose father was Ettore Schmitz, with his autobiographical and fictional characters; and the Joycian Museum, which recounts the years spent in Trieste by the young James Joyce, who arrived in 1904 seeking a teaching position. There, he wrote the short story "A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man," much of Dubliners, and began his masterpiece, "Ulysses." Finally, the heart of the museum is the Writers' Bookshop, which presents all the writers connected to Trieste through books, workshops, and photographic portraits.

The Roman necropolis along the Via Sacra is silent and poetic, almost an elegy in stone.
Continue to Grado, a famous seaside town inextricably linked to the poet Biagio Marin, who sang of its sea, lagoon, and "blue wind" in the Grado dialect. Stroll through the historic center, characterized by narrow streets, courtyards, and ancient basilicas.
