2nd DAY
SAN DANIELE del FRIULI and VILLALTA
In the morning, we recommend a visit to San Daniele del Friuli , a small treasure trove of art in the Friuli hills. Stroll through the historic center, including the Castle, the prestigious Guarneriana Library ( visits by appointment only ), and the Church of Sant'Antonio, with its splendid cycle of 16th-century frescoes.
At the end, a visit to a ham factory with a tasting lunch of the famous San Daniele ham with its delicate flavour, recognised since 1996 as a DOP product ( Protected Designation of Origin ).
In the afternoon, we'll reach Villalta Castle, one of the most important and best-preserved in Friuli, still inhabited by the Caporiacco family. A tour of the castle ( by reservation, subject to availability ) includes its double walls, patrol walkways, drawbridge, and interiors, including the rustic Friulian kitchen, the main floor with the Hall of the Patriarchs, and the Imperial Rooms, all finely furnished. Afterwards, a visit and tasting at the nearby Poggio di Villalta di Fagagna winery is included. An almost magical landscape, with a nearly hidden entrance and a dirt road that passes over the Rio Volpe, leads to the large lawn, park, and vineyards that welcome visitors. A tour of the vineyards, cellar, and barrel room where a select few wines are aged, including the Vulpes white selection.
Return to the farmhouse through FAGAGNA with the beautiful Quadris Oasis, with ibises and storks, and climb to Fagagna Castle from which you can enjoy a priceless view from the mountains to the sea.

3rd DAY
SPILIMBERGO AND VALVASONE
In the morning, depart for the vast Magredi plain, following the course of the Tagliamento River. Arrive in SPILIMBERGO and enjoy a guided tour of the prestigious Friuli Mosaic School , which houses more than 800 works by students and master mosaicists. We recommend a stroll through the historic center, including the Piazza del Duomo and the Castle.
We then pass the Tagliamento River Park to reach the village of VALVASONE-ARZENE , located in the heart of a Friuli Grave DOC wine-producing area that boasts a rich and ancient history, with origins dating back at least to Roman times. Visit a winery and wine tasting.

4th DAY
UDINE, the city of Tiepolo
Departure for UDINE , a beautiful and welcoming city, with a guided tour of the Palazzo del Patriarcato and the Tiepolo Galleries, where Tiepolo lived and reached his artistic maturity. We then recommend a stroll through the historic center: the Castle, Piazza Liberà, the " most beautiful Venetian square on the mainland ," the Cathedral, Piazza Matteotti, the Mercatovecchio shopping street, and Piazza San Giacomo, where the people of Udine love to enjoy an aperitif with a glass of wine ( tajut in Friulian).

5th DAY
VENZONE and the CORNINO LAKE Nature Reserve
Departure for VENZONE, voted the most beautiful village in Italy in 2017, for a self-guided tour of the historic center, expertly restored after the 1976 earthquake.
Lunch at a restaurant in Venzone
In the afternoon, a guided tour of the LAKE CORNINO Nature Reserve, with its emerald waters, includes entry to the visitor center where the griffon vulture conservation project has been ongoing for twenty years.
