Arrival in CARNIA, Tolmezzo
Individual arrival in TOLMEZZO, the capital of Carnia, Alpine city of the year 2017. Free time for visits, we recommend the Museum of Popular Arts and Traditions
Housed in the seventeenth-century Palazzo Campeis, one of the most important Alpine ethnographic museums in Europe.
The collection illustrates all aspects of Carnia's life, traditions, and art from the 16th to the 19th century. It is housed in thirty rooms arranged according to the reconstruction of the original spaces: visitors can admire the kitchen with its "fogolâr," the bedroom with carved cabinets and chests, the dining room, and the artisans' workshops.
There are also specific sections dedicated to traditional crafts, wrought iron, weights and measures, folk costumes, weaving, embroidery, and lace. Of great interest for the history of costume is the rich collection of portraits that adorn the museum's walls.

2nd DAY
VAL TAGLIAMENTO, towards the sources
Departure for Forni di Sopra , nestled in the Eastern Friulian Dolomites , where the Tagliamento River originates. Visit the local brewery with tastings, followed by a visit to the small, creative embroidery factory. Free time for a walk along one of the many valley trails. On the return journey, we suggest a stop in Ampezzo at the Petris brothers' farm, where cheesemaking has been handed down for generations, including mountain cheese ( a Slow Food Presidium ). Return to Tolmezzo and dinner at a traditional restaurant.

3rd DAY
From VENZONE to RAGOGNA, following the Tagliamento
Departure for Venzone , named the most beautiful village in Italy in 2017. Individual tour of the historic center, expertly restored after the 1976 earthquake. In the afternoon, arrival in Ragogna. We suggest a walk to the castle and fortifications, followed by a visit to the Great War Museum. Accommodation in a farmhouse in RAGOGNA (alternatively, a 3-star hotel).

4th DAY
From SAN DANIELE del FRIULI to the mouth of the Tagliamento
In the morning, we suggest visiting the historic center of San Daniele del Friuli, home to the prestigious Guarneriana Library ( entrance by appointment, subject to availability ), and the Church of Sant'Antonio, with its splendid cycle of 16th-century frescoes. Then, visit an artisanal ham factory and enjoy a tasting lunch . Departure across a gravel plain that has created the ideal habitat for growing grapes. Visit a winery in the Friuli Grave DOC area with a tasting near Valvasone. Arrive at the mouth of the Tagliamento River and settle into a farmhouse in the LATISANA/GORGO area. Dinner is free.
