The Friulian Museum of Natural History, part of the museum network of the Municipality of Udine, is located within the former municipal slaughterhouse site on Via Sabbadini, an evocative industrial archaeology complex surrounded by greenery.
Founded in 1866, the Museum collects, preserves and studies an important natural history, prehistoric and paleontological heritage, with particular attention to the Friuli region. It also carries out research, public outreach and educational activities.
Today, the Museum is a place in constant evolution: a vibrant centre for research, knowledge sharing and community engagement. Temporary exhibitions, events, talks, workshops, educational activities and initiatives throughout the region offer opportunities to explore nature, Earth’s history, biodiversity, and the relationship between people and the environment.
The Museum’s activities are designed for different age groups, with special attention also given to families with very young children, from the first months of life onwards. Nursing areas, baby-changing facilities and an ongoing commitment to accessibility help make the Museum welcoming and accessible to everyone.
