Magic Sauris lake

We decided to go to lake Sauris, for a two days kayak trip. We arrived late afternoon and inflated the kayak, then we went for a nice paddle at sunset. We started from "La Maina" and exactly on the beautiful "Rio Poch" river outlet, on the North shore of the lake.
Then we had dinner and went to sleep in the tent, in Friuli in not allowed to do extended camping, but you are allowed to bivouac so you can plant the tent in the evening and dismantle it the next morning.
The next day we went to the south shore, explored another inlet with a little waterfall, very beautiful!
The next trip was all the way to the West shore.
Back to land, deflated the kayak and we headed to Sauris to eat the local food, the famous prosciutto crudo di Sauris (raw ham) and the beer made in the local brewery.
The new fun thing to do in Sauris is the zip line, crossing part of the lake, apparently the longest in Europe.

Max Ranchi

Max Ranchi was born in Trieste.
In the military service, his first profession was a climbing & skiing instructor in the Alpini, the Italian mountain troops. After four years he decided to change life and travel and after many adventures he ended up in Hawaii, where he met some American photographers, so he had the chance to work as assistant. After two years it was time to move on again, so back to Europe and he went to the Blake College in London, where he studied photography. Back home, in Trieste he started to cover the major regattas, in Italy and Worldwide soon after. He is now among the top professional photographers in the marine industry, he works for sailing teams, press offices and regatta organizers.
In his free time, Max likes to retire to his mountain hut in Gracco, Carnia, where he indulges in snowboarding, climbing and generally enjoying the mountain scenery.
