Takezawa & Strabbioli

Description

The program opens with Beethoven’s Sonata Op. 30 No. 3—a radiant, brilliant work—and continues with Brahms’s First Sonata, Op. 78, an intimate, introspective piece imbued with lyricism and melancholy. After the intermission, Prokofiev’s Sonata No. 1, Op. 80, introduces a darker, more restless atmosphere, balancing dramatic tension with sudden lyrical passages.
The concert concludes with Ravel’s *Tzigane*, a rhapsody of great virtuosity and colorful flair, inspired by Gypsy traditions.

A winner of the International Violin Competition of Indianapolis, Takezawa has performed with the New York Philharmonic, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, and the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, under the baton of conductors such as Seiji Ozawa, Sir Colin Davis, Wolfgang Sawallisch, Sir Neville Marriner, and Riccardo Chailly.
She has appeared at Carnegie Hall, the BBC Proms, the Vienna Musikverein, and Tokyo’s Suntory Hall, collaborating with artists including Martha Argerich, Mischa Maisky, and Myung-Whun Chung. She plays a 1724 Stradivarius.

Strabbioli has collaborated with the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra, the Cologne Radio Orchestra, the Mantua Chamber Orchestra, and the Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra. He has performed with Frank Peter Zimmermann, Pierre Amoyal, and Sergej Krylov, appearing at the Amsterdam Concertgebouw, the Zurich Tonhalle, and London’s Wigmore Hall.
