The exhibition invites reflection on how mourning and death rituals have evolved over time, amidst tradition, memory, and the transformations of contemporary society.
The exhibition traces the gradual shift in mourning practices: from an experience shared within the home and community—characterized by shared gestures, prayers, and customs—to increasingly intimate and individual ways of saying farewell. This shift reflects the profound social and cultural changes that have occurred over time. Through photographs by Carlo Innocenti, artifacts from Udine’s civic collections, oral testimonies, and a sound installation, the exhibition offers a glimpse into the cultural and human heritage associated with farewell rituals in Friuli.

Admission fee applies
Thursdays: 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM
Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays: 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Last admission half an hour before closing
