Snorkeling in Miramare

Description

Just a short distance from the city of Trieste, the Miramare Marine Protected Area is a oasis of marine biodiversity that has been protected and preserved for over 50 years by WWF. What better way to explore its sandy seabeds and densely populated rocky reefs than by a snorkeling tour?
During the dive led by qualified WWF guides, you will swim among schools of salema, breams and damselfish. You may encounter large brown meagres or the rarer but spectacular eagle rays, or observe organisms that might escape an untrained eye, such as small blennies, sponges, anemones, crustaceans, and the brightly colored nudibranchs.
For the 2026 season, the experiences will depart every Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday,  from the small port of Grignano, where—once you have put on your snorkeling gear—you will board a boat bound for the protected area. After a briefing on board, the WWF guide will lead you on an excursion lasting approximately 40–45 minutes. The proposed routes, suitable for adults and children with a good level of swimming ability, run along the coastline following a shallow underwater trail.
It is strongly recommended to bring your own equipment when available; otherwise, it will be provided by the organization free of charge on loan. For the dive, a mask with snorkel, fins, and a neoprene wetsuit are required, as these help maintain body temperature and improve buoyancy.
