Description
The “Chat Noir” was a famous Parisian cabaret that hosted avant-garde artists, unconventional art forms, and the most extravagant styles at the turn of the 20th century.
The show evokes its atmosphere, suspended between the past and the present, between style and substance, all tempered by the irony and lightheartedness characteristic of the cabaret spirit.
Amid the folds of this world, a dark subplot emerges: the Black Cat, a symbolic figure of the cabaret, comes to life from Edgar Allan Poe’s famous short story.
Fragments and allusions from the novella bring terror to the surface amid satire, dance, and song, within the apparent nonsense of the avant-garde style, creating a subtle interweaving of unease and irony.
