Description
On Saturday 11 January at 9.45 a.m. in the Sala Forni of Duino Castle the exhibition ‘Rainer Maria Rilke and the Duino Elegies’ will be inaugurated.
An event of great cultural importance that celebrates the figure of Rainer Maria Rilke, poet of Bohemian origin, born on 4 December 1875, one of the most influential authors of the 20th century. The Elegie Duinesi, composed between 1912 and 1922, represent one of the peaks of his literary production and owe their name to Duino Castle, where Rilke found inspiration during his stay.
Our territory, which still holds the echo of his poetry, played a central role in the poet's creative journey, becoming a symbol of the dialogue between nature, art and spirituality. The exhibition offers visitors the opportunity to deepen the indissoluble bond between Rilke and the cultural reality of Trieste and Duino Aurisina, enhancing the historical and poetic heritage that these places bring with them.
The initiative is intended not only as a tribute to Rilke, but also as an invitation to rediscover an area that, thanks to its beauty and history, continues to inspire artists and visitors from all over the world.
The exhibition will be open until 16 March on Saturdays and Sundays from 9.30 a.m. to 4 p.m. - during the week for groups, by appointment only. At the cost of the Duino Castle entrance fee.
