Description
Steve Gadd, born in 1945, is considered one of the most influential drummers of all time. He is known for his refinement and taste, as well as his remarkable ability. He has worked with artists including Eric Clapton, David Gilmour, Paul McCartney, Pino Daniele, the Bee Gees, Paul Simon, Simon & Garfunkel, Steely Dan, Al Jarreau, Joe Cocker, Stuff, Bob James, Michel Petrucciani, Chick Corea, Jim Hall, Michael Brecker, James Taylor, Jim Croce, Eumir Deodato, Eddie Gomez, The Manhattan Transfer, Michał Urbaniak, Steps Ahead, Al Di Meola, Tomo Fujita, the Manhattan Jazz Quintet, and many others.
Chick Corea said of him: "Every drummer wants to play like Steve Gadd because he plays so perfectly."
Gadd considers the concerts with Blicher and Hemmer among his favorite experiences; the three musicians work perfectly together and share a common vision of music. Gadd's bandmates are the perfect complement to his style. Just as his drums come alive with an almost otherworldly presence and immediacy, so do Blicher's saxophone and Hemmer's organ. In their hands, the instruments seem to emanate sound directly from the saxophone reed or the Hammond tonewheels, rather than from the musicians themselves.
