“Shadows Without a Voice,” the debut novel by the father of the contemporary Japanese thriller, Tokuro Nukui, redefined the style of suspense in the country’s literature. It was 1993, and at the same time a revolution was also taking place in cinema: from Takeshi Kitano to Kiyoshi Kurosawa, voices were appearing that would later become cornerstones of the genre as we know it today. To celebrate the Italian publication of Tokuro Nukui’s novel by Longanesi, this panel discussion with Marianna Zanetta (Inari Books) and Mauro Donzelli (ComingSoon.it) will celebrate the art of suspense by Japanese masters in literature and cinema. The novel itself will also be on sale in Italy for the first time.
