Laica Luna are a band from Trieste comprising Lana Petrovic, Paolo Diviacco, Luca Sollecito and Jaren Diviacco. In February 2025, they released their first single, “Una canzone semplice”, with which the band made their intentions clear from the outset.
The band’s name is inspired by the dog Laika. The first living being to bridge the gap between Earth and the sky. At that moment, humanity discovered its own loneliness. The gods no longer exist. Only the Moon can materially determine our lives.
A change of consonant determines the future of humankind.
‘K’ (in Laika) and ‘C’ (in laica) represent two worlds in Trieste: identities and languages in the same place. The Austro-Hungarian and Balkan multicultural heritage, the Italian present.
Trieste, where East meets West, North meets South, is the place where ‘Laika’ and ‘laica’ can coexist and where the ‘Laica Luna’ project was born, whose aim is to explore the darkness between the luminous objects in the sky, probing the complexity of human beings left without gods, without myths and without excuses; just as Laika did from her spacecraft.
Laika is alive! She lives on the Moon!
