‘Poffabro, a nativity scene amongst nativity scenes’ is one of the most famous and evocative Christmas events in Friuli Venezia Giulia, capable of transforming the entire historic village of Poffabro (a hamlet of Frisanco, in Val Colvera) into a veritable open-air museum dedicated to the Nativity. Listed among Italy’s Most Beautiful Villages, the village boasts a distinctive architecture of stone and wood which, during the winter festivities,
provides an almost fairy-tale-like natural setting.

TRAFFIC ARRANGEMENTS
- Closure of the historic centre: vehicle access to the heart of the village is completely closed to traffic for the duration of the event to allow visitors to walk around safely
- Passenger drop-off and pick-up: tourist coaches are permitted a brief stop to let passengers on and off near Poffabro’s main square. This allows groups (particularly those with difficulty walking uphill) to easily reach the start of exhibition route 12
- Coach parking: once passengers have alighted, coaches must move on and park in the designated car park located below the village, following the instructions provided by the on-site staff
- Compulsory booking and authorisation: for groups arriving by coach, the official guidelines require that the organisers be notified in advance of arrival. This step is essential to obtain authorisation to drive up to the village and to coordinate the time slots for unloading and loading, thereby avoiding traffic congestion along the Val Colvera road.
- This year, due to the closure of the tunnel, vehicles must not exceed 12 metres in length
