A masterpiece of musical cinema directed by Bert Stern, the film documents the legendary 1958 Newport Jazz Festival, capturing the vibrant atmosphere of one of the most important moments in jazz history. The film features extraordinary performances by greats of American music, including Louis Armstrong, Thelonious Monk, Anita O'Day, Dinah Washington, Mahalia Jackson, Chuck Berry, Gerry Mulligan, and Jimmy Giuffre.

"Gabrielle Stravelli Quartet Concert"
One of the most acclaimed voices in contemporary American jazz comes to Trieste for a special evening dedicated to the American Songbook. Acclaimed by international critics for her elegant interpretation, refined phrasing, and ability to blend tradition and modernity, Gabrielle Stravelli has performed at the most prestigious jazz clubs and international festivals. Fresh from performances at the renowned Birdland Jazz Club in New York and now headed to London's Royal Albert Hall, the artist brings to Trieste a repertoire inspired by the great performers of classic jazz, from Ella Fitzgerald to Sarah Vaughan. The quartet will perform timeless standards from the Great American Songbook with elegant arrangements, captivating swing, and atmospheres reminiscent of the golden age of American jazz. A selection of complete performances dedicated to the greatest female voices in the history of jazz and blues, featuring images and recordings that shaped the music of the twentieth century. Featured artists include Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Sarah Vaughan, Nina Simone, Dinah Washington, and Bessie Smith. A tribute to the artists who transformed jazz and blues into a universal form of artistic expression, freedom, and cultural innovation.
