Il Rossetti - The Nutcracker

After last year's success, the Ukrainian Classical Ballet returns to the Politeama Rossetti stage with its marvelous "The Nutcracker," which will naturally be one of the scheduled events during the Christmas holidays. The charm of this title from the great Romantic repertoire, commissioned from Tchaikovsky in 1892 for the Russian Imperial Theatres, is enduring. The composer drew inspiration for the score from E.T.A. Hoffman's tale "The Nutcracker and the Mouse King," and wrote a masterpiece of color and poetry, lyricism and enchantment. The story, narrated "on pointe," takes place at Christmas and centers on a young girl, Clara, who receives a small wooden nutcracker as a gift. After the celebrations, Clara falls asleep under the Christmas tree and dreams... With her toy soldier who comes to life and becomes flesh and blood, she experiences dreamlike adventures, which are perhaps a metaphor for the passage to adulthood. The Ukrainian Classical Ballet presents its own version of the ballet, faithful to the original in narrative and choreography, yet visually enriched with modern sets, sumptuous decorations, luminous costumes, and captivating video projections. This choice makes the show as evocative as tradition, yet more contemporary in its staging. The company's dancers will be impeccable, as will the internationally renowned soloists from prestigious European theaters, selected especially for this new performance in Trieste.
