Description
Among the many events taking place as part of the "Festival of the Patron Saints" in Muggia, the "Piazza della Pace - Peace Square" will be held under the patronage of Muggia Town Council.
There will be events, exhibitions and discussions to reflect together on peace, with a particular focus on Jerusalem and Ukraine.
Programme
Tuesday 23th June at 8.30 pm – "G. Verdi" Municipal Theatre in Muggia
"WORDS AND MUSIC OF PEACE", the dream of peace in the Holy Land – A meeting between His Excellency Monsignor Enrico Trevisi, Bishop of Trieste, and His Excellency Monsignor Jurij Bizjak, Bishop Emeritus of Koper (SLO). Performances by the Zveza Cerkvenih Pevshih Zborov (Union of Slovenian Parish Choirs), the Trieste Scout Choir and the F.A.R.I.T. Choir.
Saturday 27th June at 5.30 pm – Muggia Cathedral
PRAYER MEETING FOR PEACE. This will be followed by Holy Mass at 6.30 pm.
Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th June – "Ugo Carà" Municipal Museum of Modern Art
Exhibition: "BUT I AM ALIVE. VOICES FROM UKRAINE" – The exhibition tells the story of the war in Ukraine through the stories of real people, giving a human face to both suffering and hope. An invitation to reflect on how to preserve humanity even where war seems to erase it.
Opening on Saturday 27th at 10.00 am in the presence of His Excellency Monsignor Enrico Trevisi, Bishop of Trieste, and Mychajlo Dymyd, the Greek Catholic priest who inspired the exhibition.

Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th June – Church of St Francis
Exhibition: “BROTHER SUN AND SISTER MOON”, organised by the Education Office of the Diocese of Trieste and created by pupils from schools in Trieste to mark the 800th anniversary of the death of St Francis, a universal symbol of peace and brotherhood among peoples.
Opening hours: 10 am to 6 pm
