Description
A posthumous retrospective exhibition will open on June 4th at 6:00 pm and will be introduced by the Association's president Giorgio Tessarolo and, on a critical level, by architect Marianna Accerboni. The exhibition features a selection of paintings by the artist from the 1980s to the present. A gentle but firm soul – writes Accerboni – Elsa Delise has always been one of the most significant historical figures in Trieste's art scene, a passion she shared with her husband and lifelong companion, Livio Zoppolato. Born in Trieste in 1946 to Istrian parents, Elsa Delise, of a delicate yet down-to-earth and determined temperament, sincere and generous, sought beauty everywhere: in her great love of plants and flowers, in her attention to the body through athletics and skiing, and in her passion for acting and dance as well as painting. Highly reserved and discreet in the field of art, respectful, gentle, and hardworking, she was always open to dialogue, particularly with the artistic group Amici del Venerdì, who meet at the Galleria Rossoni, under the guidance of the painter Claudio Sivini. In her art, she consistently followed a rigorous expressive line, in which architecture and urban views—her favorite themes—were represented through an elegant synthesis of sign and color, enriched with transparencies and striking counterpoints of light, skillfully crafted primarily in mixed media. These spaces, moreover—Accerboni concludes—are imbued with a subtle balance and often characterized by the silent absence of human figures. The exhibition features a comprehensive selection of paintings: from the narrative landscapes with figures dating back to the 1980s, to the concise urban views and unexpected musical themes of later periods, up to the abstraction she explored shortly before her death.
