Boat excursion in the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve (with snorkeling)

Description

Join the crew of the Miramare Marine Protected Area for a sunset sailing experience. Together with WWF staff, you will explore the waters of Italy’s oldest marine reserve and discover the extraordinary biodiversity that thrives both above and below the surface of this protected area. You will also be captivated by the enchanting sight of Miramare Castle reflected in the sea.
Cruising from Grignano towards Santa Croce, you will enjoy panoramic views of the Trieste coastline, with its mussel farms and terraced vineyards and olive groves, features that have earned this area recognition as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. Upon reaching the cliffs of Santa Croce, you will put on your mask and snorkel and join WWF guides in the water to explore the underwater landscape of the Trieste coast.
The excursions depart every Saturday in July, from the small harbour of Grignano, next to the terminus of the TPL bus line 6, where you will board together with WWF staff for an itinerary lasting approximately 75 minutes.
For the boat excursion, we recommend wearing closed-toe shoes or sports sandals with non-slip soles, as well as a hat. Bringing sunscreen and drinking water is also advised. For the snorkeling activity, we strongly recommend bringing your own mask and snorkel. If you do not have them, equipment will be provided free of charge by the organizers.

Duration: 90 minutes, including participant registration and boarding procedures

This experience is suitable for adults and families with children aged 6 and over. Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
