The newest production by the Ballet Preljocaj, Soulèvement, set to music by Irène Drésel, brings European choreographic avant-garde to Udine. This international co-production involves leading institutions such as the Grand Théâtre de Provence and the Théâtre de la Ville in Paris, with a score entirely entrusted to Irène Drésel, a cult figure of the French electronic and techno scene and the first woman in the history of French cinema to receive the César Award for Best Original Score (À plein temps, 2023).
The integration of contemporary electronic music makes this new creation by Angelin Preljocaj even more distinctive. Widely regarded as one of the most influential choreographers of the contemporary scene, he is known for his ability to fuse classical technique with innovative research into a personal and immediately recognisable language. Author of works that have entered the international repertoire, he has redefined narrative through dance, collaborating with artists across disciplines and influencing generations of choreographers and performers worldwide.
