Ars Nova International Music competition

Description

The Ars Nova – Paolo Spincich Prize includes piano, violin, flute, and chamber music categories, divided into age groups from 6 to 18. The selections will take place in some of the most beautiful and prestigious venues in Trieste's historic center: the Sala Costantinides of the Sartorio Museum, Villa Italia – Circolo Unificato dell'Esercito, the Ars Nova Academy (Palazzo Fister), the Casa della Musica, the Basilica of San Silvestro, the Piccola Fenice Theater, the Miela Theater, and the AGEAS Club. The awards ceremony will take place on December 8th at 10:30 a.m. at the Giuseppe Tartini Conservatory of Music, capping off a week of great music and young talent. A partnership with the ISIS Carducci-Dante Institute is also in place, as part of its School-to-Work training programs, offering students the opportunity to experience the world of live cultural production.

OPENING CONCERT
The official opening of the 2025 edition will be held on Saturday, November 15th at 8:00 PM in the Sala del Ridotto of the Teatro Verdi in Trieste, with an exceptionally prestigious inaugural concert. The star will be violinist Ulisse Mazzon, accompanied by the Ars Nova Academy Orchestra conducted by Matteo Fanni Canelles, in a program entirely dedicated to Antonio Vivaldi's Four Seasons. For the occasion, Mazzon will play the celebrated Guarneri del Gesù "Muntz" (1736), one of the most valuable instruments in the world, on loan from the Nippon Music Foundation. A violin valued at over ten million euros, its rare voice will resonate for the first and last time in Trieste before its return to the collection: an unmissable event for the city and the public. This concert also represents the "Muntz"'s last European performance before its return to the collection, marking a symbolic moment in the young violinist's career.
